Last Monday, July 1st, I ate at your Tempe, AZ site. It’d been a rough Sunday and Monday – Sunday I’d severely hurt my right knee and leg from falling down some stairs, and with Monday it was the beginning of my 3rd week in a (wonderful!) new job and I was in the utzy zone with one foot “am I ever going to get all this straight?!?!?!” and the other in “geez, this is truly so simple…”. It wasn’t my plan to eat dinner out. Setting out to shop at Sprouts, my initial plan was to simply go into Souplantation and get the July menu … as I limped into the front door I was caught by the smells of real, living food and I went for it … really went for it! with 2 plates one of which I loaded up with Joan’s Broccoli Madness and Asiago Caesar, the other got corn, kidney beans, cucumbers and a full array of other veggies. The good news is it was all healthy food. The not so good news is that just carrying the tray to a table was difficult. And I did it. One thing that really helped was the sincere cheerfulness and helping demeanor of one of your wonderful servers/table clearers, Sarah. She helped my day’s end (and week’s beginning) more than she can know. I was so fortified by her attitude and the wonderful food that I went over to Sprouts where I got some terrific alternative products and holistic information from one of their nutrition experts. Now not quite a week later my knee AND my attitude are so, so much better, very much up the spiral. Souplantation and Sarah were/are a big part of that. So much so that I’m going back today for to sample more of your full GF July menu stuffs. Thanks to all. Let’s see … I’ll start with Joan’s Broccoli Madness, will it be a baked potato or Red White & Blue Potato salad with Bacon? Patriotic or basic? hmmmmmmm … then there’s Deep Kettle House Chili, ooooo–maybe over a baked potato? or the RW&B salad??? Gotta get a load of veggies, too. By gummie, I’ll even try some Sugar-Free Mango Coconut Mousse (once I find out what it’s sweetened with, that is …). Reading over this, I may need to get there early … oh, then come July 17 I’ll need to go anew for Aunt Doris’ Red Pepper Slaw. Love that Auntie Doris’s way in the kitchen!

My location’s menu 92626 differs from this menu. I’m guessing the only vegan prepared item is the slaw if I’m lucky?

Hi nv – Give your local location a call and they can let you know what menu items they have available.

Which of your soups ordinarily have gluten-free ingredients? I would like to eat at Souplantation – salad (no pasta), soup, a baked potato, and soft-serve ice cream. I understand that the food itself would not be prepared in a gluten-free environment. Do any of the foods above contain gluten content? Love to see more about gluten content on your web site. Thank you.

Hi GH – All of this list is gluten free. Be sure to check out next month’s GF menu as we rotate our options.

Thank you for considering more gluten free options. My family has gone to Souplantation so many times over the years, it was our favorite. Sadly, since a celiac diagnosis, we have just gone a few times, since the menu is very limited for people who are vegan, and gluten free. We are also concerned about cross-contamination. We realize that once the food is out in the line, that part is out of your hands. We are wondering, though, about cross-contamination safety practices as the food is being prepared (i.e. washing/wrapping potatoes, handling salad bar items, with different gloves, than are handled with gluten items.) Is the staff trained about cross contamination food handling issues, since celiac and other gluten intolerances, increase in number? Thank you. We would love to be able to visit more often.

Hi VL – Since all of our food is prepared fresh each day and in the same kitchen we cannot promise that some cross contamination will not occur. We do try and uphold all health and safety procedures but at this time would not be able to make that promise.

I think it would be great if you would carry at least one gluten-free pasta dish and maybe one gluten-free muffin or bread item. I love salad but it would be nice to enjoy some of the other items as well.

I’m with Monica. The GF market has expanded so much, and the number of patrons who would seek out your restaurant would increase dramatically with a few more choices. Pasta, breads, muffins and sauces are plentiful now, and pre-mades would eliminate most of the prep contamination issues. Please consider adding more to your GF offerings! We Celiacs’ would appreciate it!!

Hi Barbara – Check back in a few days. Until then, if you have any questions, a manager at your local location will be able to help you figure out what is in each menu item.

Sadly, not true. I went to the Brandon Florida location yesterday and the manager couldn’t tell me anything other than chili. He looked in his “portal” and the most recent he could find was April he said. For those of us who can’t have Gluten, this just means we have to go eat somewhere else. I’m not paying $9 to eat just chili.

Why no August GF menu? The month is halfway through and no new updates.

You know, I was planning to go to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner tonight but if you can provide the GF menu items by the middle of the month, I’m thinking of going someplace else tonight

still no August gluten free menu posted. The manager at my Sweet Tomatoes location does not have a list that specifically states what soups are gluten free. Some ingredients listed, like hvp, may have unlisted gluten. When I go to your restaurant I bring 4-8 people with me. No gf menu items listed = not going to your restaurant. It appears that you Sweet Tomatoes doesn’t care about people with Celiac Diease and food allergies. I will be posting this on yelp and Face Book.
