May Gluten Free Menu

Even though we’re hitting the road for our American Road Trip this May, our gluten free menu items will still be available. We even have some new additions on our featured menu!

Tossed Salads:

  • Sonoma Spinach w/Honey Dijon Vinaigrette (Only available 5/1-5/14)
  • California Cobb w/ bacon & Avocado (Only available 5/17-5/29)

  • Sante Fe Black Bean Chili (Only available 5/1-5/14)

This is off topic, but can’t find a way to change my email address! Please add to website. Please make website more user friendly & realize that people do move & change email addresses & make it easy for people to make these changes. I want to remain a Club Veg membe & I know there are Sweet Tomatoes up in the Portland area at least at Clackamas.

I’m moving this week from S CA to Portland, OR. I do NOT want to unsubscribe, just update my email address, changing domain name to gmail.com.

My current email address is going away on Wed when I leave here.

Hi Kathi – On the bottom of the last Club Veg email you received there is an “Update My Preferences” link. Click this and you can make changes to all of your information. If you cannot find your last email for some reason you can just sign up again with your new email!

I’m disappointed that you don’t offer more gluten-free options, and that you don’t call out this information on your main nutrition pages, the way you do for vegan/vegetarian items.

We used to eat at Sweet Tomatoes every Friday night, but now that half our family is gluten-free, we basically can’t go at all. The chili is too spicy for my daughter, and apparently, all your other soups either have wheat flour as a thickener, or contain gluten ingredients such as barley.

You offer three pasta dishes usually, but not one of them uses rice, corn, or quinoa pasta. And none of your bakery treats use rice or almond flour, instead of wheat. So essentially, if I want a salad, baked potato, or salty chili, I can eat at Sweet Tomatoes. For upwards of $10.50 + beverage, it’s not worth it.

Contrast this with Red Robin, Shari’s, Pastini, or a dozen other restaurants that offer soups without wheat flour thickeners, gluten-free breads or buns, and alternate pasta choices. Even Olive Garden, which is almost 100% pasta-based, offers several rice-pasta dishes.

I would love to eat more often at Sweet Tomatoes again, but for now, I’m sticking with places where I have more choices available.

Hi Kerry – Thank you for your input. We try and please all our great visitors but sometimes are unable to incorporate everyone’s menu suggestions. Each month we release new gluten free options so we hope you will continue to look back and see what is offered that will fit into your family’s diet.

I was wondering if you could make a gluten-free tag for this blog. I usually check for the month’s gf items as I’m walking in, and it would make it a lot easier to find the month’s gf post!

Hi Jamie – We actually do use the term “Gluten Free” to tag all of our monthly menu updates. You can also search the term on our blog for an easy way to pull up the post. :)

Amen to Kerry’s comments. I have emailed on several occasions – to no avail. My problem is with the huge amounts of salt used in lieu of other available herbs & spices to add flavor. I also agree that quinoa could be substituted for the many wheat pasta dishes. Everything seems to have pasta – because of price? I love the muffins but have stopped eating them because of the carbs, fats etc. Same with the cookies. Found the snickerdoodles to be tastier than the choc-chips and not greasy like some of the choc chips – quality control? I have cut back on the soups because of the salt, altho’ I used to combine 3-4 into 1 soup bowl. We used to visit at least 3-4 times per week but have cut back because of above.

I agree 100% with Kerry too. Also, why isn’t the Gluten Free menu posted in the restaurant? I ate at Sweet Tomatoes last Friday and when I asked to see the GF menu, it took 3 employees to finally find the (apparently) 1 supervisor in the store who had access to this information. Adding allergy info to the food description signs would solve this problem. However, on a positive note… the house chili was delicious! More soups like this, please!!

Hi Nanci – Since our gluten free items swap out each month we try and keep everyone updated on our blog. We do try and let our managers know that they will be asked for ingredient and nutritional information so hopefully next time they will be able to help you out faster!

Interesting that you replied to Nanci who posted after I did. I guess that you do not want to go into the high sodium issue, which is a major health issue. Awful like a copout. You’ve been watching the Washington DC inquiries too much.

My husband and I went to the Souplantation on Midway and I had the gluten free Thousand Island dressing. About 45 mins later, I had a muscle lock down, a lot of pain spiking, just overall agony. I have severe degenerative disc disease and artifical sweeteners will spike my pain higher so I avoid them. I also have a very high soy allergy. It’s very important for me to know the ingredients in the gluten free Thousand Island dressing. The dressing was the only unknown factor out of my lunch as the Thousand Island dressing I usually use isn’t gluten free. I’ve been roaming the net, looking for ingredients on the dressings that Souplantation uses but have found nothing, and so I’m here. Thank you in advance.
