Been a long time fan of Sweet Tomatoes but two years ago when they stopped offering either full or half fat ice cream it really ruined it for me. Fat free anything just doesn’t cut it and I really enjoyed the ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert. Not so anymore and that really reduced the number of visits to Sweet Tomatoes. Spoke to the staff and they told me to write my comments to the company.
I agree. I am a vegetarian so sweet tomatoes is a place we used to eat eat at a minimum of weekly, sometimes more and when they did this we (family of 4) were forced to look at our other alternatives..
Barb,
I am sorry you reduced your visits to Sweet Tomatoes. I agree fat free ice cream is not much of a dessert. I, on the other hand, simply chose to eat something healthy like pieces of fruit. Sweet Tomatoes is the one chain where I can get a very healthy meal. The four days of senior pricing have really increase our visits.
I guess I must be in the minority…the fat free chocolate Edy’s frozen yogurt tastes the same to me. I agree the vanilla is a little off, but the chocolate still tastes the same.
I really enjoy eating at Sweet Tomatoes, the food is fresh and very tasty. My husband and I go there at least once of month. I like the coupons and senior discounts. Thank you for having such a good nutritional place to eat.
I used to frequent Sweet Tomatoes at Barrett Parkway, Kennesaw, Georgia. Recently it just does not seem clean. I worry that the workers do not take care – the tables are not as clean as they should be and many times the salad bar is very messy and empty or not looking as fresh as it should be. What happened to my favorite lunch place?? My grandchildren used to love going there with me but now I am worried they may get sick. Please check into this. It seems like the people who work there are not like the ones who used to keep the place clean. Do you need to hire better people and possibly pay them better so they have pride in the place where they work and serve people??? Many people I know have stopped going.
Barrett Pkwy is the location I go too also. First, thank you for the Senior pricing Mon-Thurs…My major complaint is the baked potatoes are never hot enough to sufficiently melt butter and cheese, and if you use sour cream the potatoes are cold. I find this with the potatoes no matter what time I am there. A microwave would be helpful to make them hotter. Thank you.
Thank you Barbara for your feedback, we will share the comments with the management team at Barrett Pkwy to see if they can heat the potatoes more or if they can fix the problem. We do not have microwaves at any of our locations so that is not an option right now. Thanks again for your feedback. Always appreciated!
My husband and I are seniors and we eat at Sweet Tomatoes at least once a week. Probably would be more often if we had one closer to our home. The salad bar is always so fresh and clean, and with a great choice of items. We really like that the chicken has now been added, too. I just read about the Senior Special offered between 2 and 5 each day—thank you so much!!!
Thank you for finally giving seniors a bit of a price break … it helps when living on a fixed income. But wish you would drop that age to 55 so I could take advantage of it too. I’m retired and LOVE Sweet Tomatoes, but can’t go as often as I’d like.
Love everything about Sweet Tomatoes. No complaints at all!!!!!!
Had just about given up on Sweet Tomatoes after many years. In the last two years the food has gotten worse and worse along with the service. I had to drag my wife to the place. Today the lunchen service and food were excellent. All the defference in the world. What ever you are doing to improve …..keep up the good work…wes
Thank you Wes. What location did you visit? Was it the same location as the past two years? We are glad to see we are improving and that you will dine with us again!
We really enjoy eating at Sweet Tomatoes and have been going there for many years. The one thing that would make things easer would be to to give out members cards so we wouldn`t have to print and cut-out coupons. There are times I would stop there to eat but wanting to save some money, and not having a coupon with me we did not stop. Plus this would save on paper and ink. Thanks
Please open restaurants in south east Wisconsin!! Particularly in Waukesha County cities of New Berlin or Brookfield or Milwaukee County cities of Greenfiled or West Allis. I and my family love Sweet Tomatoes and would go at least once a week if there was one close by. We have to drive 60 miles to the nearest one in Illinois or visit one while on a trip out west or down south!!
Wow, Finally. Do we just “say” we are seniors, is there a card to print out. How can we keep this handy? Who ever thought this one up, NEEDS A RAISE. I’m coming back.Thanks.
Thank you for the questions, when you are at the cashier, please let her know you are a senior and she will give you the senior meal deal price from Mon- Thurs 2-5 pm. No ID required. Enjoy!
Thanks SWEET Tomatoes for the SWEET idea/deal that you’ve come up with for Seniors, starting April 9. Means allot for all of us that are on fixed incomes! Whereas, I generally would eat with you once a month, with an email coupon, now I’m thinking I’m going to try to go once a week! Even with that email coupon, by the time you got a drink, it would be $12.00 ($11.00+change), so this $6.99 deal you’re offering is very SWEET indeed!! Good work and I hope it’ll be a huge success for you. Also, just a heads up on your location in Scottsdale, AZ, on Indian Bend Rd. . . . . . .have always found it very clean, organized, PLUS with very friendly/accommodating people working there. Thank you, again. . . .john . . . . .
I agree. Indian Bend Rd is one of the places I visit when I am in Arizona. Reliably good, helpful staff, very clean and enjoyable surroundings. And of course, I always visit the one in Upland, CA as well.
I use to eat at least once a week when the coupons were buy one get one free however they no longer have that offer and prices are too high. The food seems to be getting less appealing as well. The day I went they had cookies as a dessert; use to be some type of cobblers so that was a disappointment. Too many changes for me for the price, I will definitely not return, Chilis is a better deal for me…..
Sweet Tomatoes is one of the healthiest & restaurants ever & i eat out a lot !!!!!!! The taste is superb. I do miss the garlic salad dressing. Please bring it back.
The ice cream is not as sweet as it used to be. What happened? Can we please have the original? Otherwise I love the food, staff & presentation.
Juanita T
Keep having fat free yogurt and/or ice cream, PLEASE!!!!!!
We love Sweet Tomatoes but haven’t been going as often because prices kept rising. We live on a fixed income so we look for places to eat that help us stay within our budget. This new special price will be a huge help. Thanks for thinking of us older folks & helping us out.
My husband and I love Sweet tomatoes and as seniors are excited about the new 2 – 5 p.m. senior prices. Without a coupon or a special deal, I think that Sweet Tomatoes is just a little bit pricey . The soft drink prices are the highest we’ve seen for comparable restuarants in our area so having the drink included with the senior special is a real plus for us. The coffee is great; I love the decaf and the vanilla flavored coffees. One complaint: the chopped romaine lettuce at our location is always very tired looking. And, the pre mixed Caesar salad is very heavy on the dressing but that problem can be solved by taking just a little of the pre-mixed and adding some plain romaine or spring mix. The selection of veggies and salad toppings is terrific. I love the fat free chocolate ice cream too and consider it a heathier option than the non fat version.
We used to eat at Sweet Tomato all the time but they kept going up on the price, even with the coupons it was too high cause you had to buy 2 drinks..We’re not big eaters and I’m a water person(I like water with my meals). so we stopped eating there…Also I like my pasta with a red marinade(not sure of the spelling) sauce or meat sauce or pesco sauce, and they served other sauces, mostly cream sauces, which are not very healthy ( cholestral wise) …Keep it simple, the regular red marinade sauce and the other fattening sauces if you like. Now, that they are giving seniors a lunch special( including drinks) we will try it again and see what the changes are
We have houses in Phoenix (Ahwahtukee) and Lenexa, Ks. We eat at Sweet Tomatoes at least once per week and appreciate the new Senior special. We ate at the Overland Park location on Tuesday and the server said the premium items were not included. The email ad states “everything” is included. If the premium items are not included, the ad should state that.
Also, we would appreciate a Sweet Tomatoes closer to Lenexa.
We are in our 70′s and have enjoyed visiting your locations around the Portland Oregon area. We use the Senior coupon when we got them. Now you have changed this and only offer Senior discounts on Monday thru Thursday. We always go our to eat every Sunday Evening because it’s not so busy and the traffic is less driving between Vancouver and Portland. With your Senior offer only good on Week-days we will not be visiting you very often, if at all.
Richard,
Thank you for your email. Besides the hours of 2:00 – 5:00 Monday through Thursday, the regular lunch and dinner prices will be what the menu boards read and beverages are not included. When the senior meal deal is not valid, we do offer a 10% off senior discount or you can enjoy our Club Veg coupons that are emailed each week to our members.
We are such fans of sweet tomato. We eat there regularly but have noticed the price increasing. Thank you for the great senior rate that includes the drink. The one in Fresno, Ca is always fresh & clean. Just ate there at 4pm yesterday and there was a good crowd there. The word is getting out. Where can I buy your flavored coffee? It is wonderful. Thanks for thinking of us seniors.
My wife and I very much appreciate the $6.99 senior “all you can eat and drink” from 2 -5pm. We visit at least once a week. No-where on line do you mention the Toppers are extra, yet the local restaurant (Glenview, Il.) say they are NOT INCLUDED. I think this is deceptive that you don’t mention this extra cost. But logically I didn’t expect them to be – you just need to make it clear if they aren’t included.
We do enjoy the total concept and the hard-working staff there!
Toppers included in Fresno with the senior special.
Many thanks for your new Senior Special! I too, wish it were for every day of the week but I can certainly live with the Mon-Thurs and can now eat at Sweet Tomatoes each week instead of every other week. It fits our desire to be off the road after dark.
Jorae-
We love love love love to hear that!! We look forward to seeing you more often.
Love your new senior deal, thanks so much! Others have mentioned that the Toppers were not included at their restaurants but when we went to our local Sweet Tomatoes yesterday, they told us the Toppers WERE included (as we expected since the ad says EVERYTHING is included). We were very impressed! I’m wondering why the discrepancy between restaurants?

Wow! I can’t believe the comments about not have fatty soft ice cream! I think the current fat-free ice cream is great. The menu at Sweet Tomatoes has just gotten better and better recently. The company is really paying attention to their customers. Thanks. I love it.
so how long does this senior offer last? going to pull it without any prior notification? also think it’s deceptive not to inform customers that the toppers are extra until they get up to the register to pay for it and then find out the hard way.
I live in Arizona and have always loved our Sweet Tomato’s out here. They are clean and the food is very good. This month is lemon and I look forward to enjoying all the great lemon taste treats there. Where some complain about low fat ice cream or yogurt others are thrilled who eat more sensible. They just can’t please everyone but their desserts do… I don’t get to go as often as I like because of the location. We need more places, how about Queen Creek?
Thanks for the 60+ option. Love Souplantation and the healthy and tempting offerings. I don’t understand the Souplantation Express: I want my favorite items in the quantity I like. Will continue to be your booster.
I am senior and 66 years old. The Sweet Tomatoes restaurant is only few minutes away from my home where I live in Portland, OR. I goes there very often because I am pre-diabetic and have to watch what I eat! My doctor says you better cook more often. But I am living alone plus no time to cook and I am very busy person! With new Senior rates would help me keep going more often without costing prices to compare with groceries! Save my time with cooking and clean my kitchen! Ha!
We moved to Tucson, AZ the beginning of 2000, and we found Sweet Tomatoes. We have always commented to each other and many friends that it is always the same great food and wonderful service…..it is always one of our favorite places here. We were so happy with the new senior offer, so we went there today for a late lunch/early dinner and it was delicious as always. We love our Sweet Tomatoes!
We just had our first experience at Sweet Tomatoes at the Boynton Beach , Fl location. This was a great deal for seniors. Everything was included…even the extra toppers. The restaurant was spotless clean and staff was so courteous and friendly. We will be back there in a few days…great salads, soups and great senior deal!
ATT: TRACY M. (spokesperson). Could you or someone else representing the company please answer the confusion about the Toppers being extra cost at SOME restraurants and not others? It’s rude to ignore it. Thank you..
My husband and I were recently at Sweet tomatoes in Chula Vista, Calif. with our daughter and had an early dinner as she likes your facility but at another location. The one and only time we were at the Chula Vista one my hubby and I both said we would not come back as the salad bar was not fresh and hardly nothing for “Total Vegan’s” to choose from. Still not much for “Total Vegan’s” but this time everything was great. “But a section of the salad bar which are items we like were $2.99 extra which did not help with the Senior discount”. And those were items we liked also so we did not get any of those but now that that I know everything is included we will will go back. We are definetly on a fixed income. You need to offer the discount to 55 and above and also offer more Vegan soups like Lentil. PS this time the workers were very pleasant and our daughter left her a tip and she was reluncant to take it but our daughter insisted.
We decreased going to Sweet Tomatoes, basically no protein entree choice. One can go to Golden Coral ..have salad, great selection of fresh bread items, soft serve ice cream and CHIKEN for the same price as Sweet Tomatoes. Your chicken is a premium with an added price. Also, your competition is offering wonderful luncheon entrees cheaper then you are. Crackers Barrel with $5.99 specials, Long Horn $6.99… Both offering great salads with chicken included.
We love Soup Plantation in So Cal and go as often as we can afford. He has cancer and needs lots of fresh veggies and SP is a treat after a long day of chemo and too tired to cook. Thank you for the new senior discount and we’ll go even more often. It works out for SP because only he qualifies for the discount so there is some offset because I pay the higher rate.
Hopefully the senior discount will improve the dining experience by bringing in more older (and quieter and safer) diners because the LaMesa SP is often overrun by kids running around screaming. Why not encourage families to eat in the section by the windows so it’s quieter elsewhere and less kids running in the food area and poking food. When opening new or modifying exisiting restaurants please keep noise in mind. In San Diego, the 3 SPs we went to used to have lots of plants and dividers which helped lower noise but now they’re all quite noisy and we often can’t hear each other speak including non-peak hours.
I agree about the dessert – please return to one machine with frozen yogurt and the other with ice cream – gives choice for everyone.
Thank you!
I discovered Sweet Tomatoes when I was house hunting here (Vancouver, WA) 5 years ago. It has been one of my favorite places every since. Since I live on a small social security income, I have been able to visit less often due to raising prices. I am looking forward to taking advantage of your new senoir deal, since I love eating at your restaurant! Thanks for thinking of us old folks and our very tight budgets.
Thanks for the new senior special. My husband & I love to go to Soup Plantation in Lakewood, CA & Fountain Valley, CA, at least twice a month. We were finally going to be able to try the breakfast this Sunday, but don’t see coupons for it. Was it discontinued?
The Sunday breakfast Club Veg coupon is discontinued as of right now.
When you changed the BLUE CHEESE salad dressing you stopped us from eating @ Sweet Tomatoes weekly. We now go maybe once monthly. Bring back the old style/tASTE,NOW.

PLEEZZZZZ RESPOND TO CONFUSION re: TOPPERS,
Are they free at all locations? If not, WHY the discrepancy between restaurants?
No complaints otherwise. We enjoy the healthy selection offered and the friendly service.
Thank you for adding the senior discount
I love Sweet Tomatoes for the more healthful food options, especially for my children. Please please please open one closer to Chapel Hill! Increasing gas prices are forcing us to stay closer to home
This is the info for the resturant.
Great idea… Love the food when it is fresh and clean. My concern is that the soups at our location used to be the best ever…now it’s watery and not as good. The great vegetable harvest soup used to be sooo good full of veggies and flavor… was fantastic. Could improve on the Chicken soup too…tastes like chicken boiled in water…put carrots and other veggies in it please. Cobblers – Yes…more!!!!
We stopped eating there after the fire…food was never the same….P.S. Managers make a big difference in keeping it clean and tasty…we will start leaving comments at the site for the present manager. Thanks for thinking of us … 60 +!
We love all your healthy food and cleanliness at your Glenview IL location, including the no fat yogurt. Wish you would have the turkey pot pie soup more often than just in November. Also we miss the garlic salad dressing. Would you ever sell individual small bottles of wine?
Thanks for the great new senior discount. Now we’ll make the 15-20 minute drive more often.
Because of my recient wheat alergy (Celiac) diagnosis, I asked a manager on duty what soups and dressings were gluten free. Rather than giving me the info he said that ” the resturant didn’t cater to customers with food alergies”. After my persistance he relunctly said he would get the info. Since he never returned, I found a young guy filling the soup bowl rack and asked him. He went out of his way trying to help with info, bringing a looseleaf to look through. Later I found out that it was his second day at work. Sure says alot about management! I live in Michigan and frequently travel the 294/90 route thru Chicago always looking forward to a great stop at your restaurant. Perhaps I should find another restaurant on my travel route.
Thank you for the new senior pricing! For several years my wife and I used to visit your Crestwood MO location about once a week. With your new senior pricing, and the included beverage, we look forward to returning as regulars.
Please open a restaurant in south central Michigan. We often frequent Sweet Tomatoes in Tucson during winter months but miss going there the rest of the year. I love Sweet Tomatoes.
My wife and I enjoy going to Souplantation at least once or twice a week, and since we are seniors and enjoy eating before 4:30, the new Seniors Program is perfect for us!
My husband and I really enjoy eating at Sweet Tomatos. Thank you for the new “Senior” Special that started in April. This will make it possible for us to enjoy the soups and salads more often!
How could you limit your senior discount between 2pm – 5pm.
Don’t you know we work also and our lunch is from 12pm – 1pm.
I am 65+ plus and this is discrimination
The offer is for limited operational hours only. If you work and cannot attend, this is not for you. Pay the full price and stop your whining.
BTW, playing the discrimination card means you have no other plausible defense. Please mature at least to your age level.
We are great fans of the souplantation–especially the one in porter ranch (Northridge, California). I am really happy that you are now regularly featuring sugar free puddings for dessert. It would also help if you could include low carb sugar free pastries (muffins?) as you have occasionally in the past. And while you are at it, a choice of one or more sugar free salad dressing would be great. All this would be a help to the many sufferers from diabetes.
